About PromptUse

Why we built a tool that helps people communicate better with AI.

What Is PromptUse?

PromptUse is a free, browser-based toolkit designed to help individuals and professionals craft better prompts for AI language models — including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and others.

The core tool reads your raw, unstructured prompt and reorganizes it into five distinct components: Role, Context, Task, Output Format, and Constraints. This structure — known in the AI research community as the "RCTOC" framework — consistently produces more accurate, relevant, and useful AI responses.

Why We Built This

When large language models became widely available to the public, most users approached them the same way they approach a search engine — with short, vague queries. The results were often disappointing: generic answers, missing context, and outputs that required heavy editing.

The difference between a mediocre AI response and an excellent one almost always comes down to the quality of the prompt. Yet prompt writing is a skill that most people have never been taught. PromptUse exists to bridge that gap.

We wanted a tool that:

  • Requires no signup, no account, and no data submission
  • Works entirely in the browser (your prompts never leave your device)
  • Is genuinely educational — showing why a prompt can be improved, not just reformatting without explanation
  • Provides a library of expert-crafted templates for common use cases

Who Is PromptUse For?

PromptUse is designed for anyone who uses AI tools regularly and wants to get more out of them:

  • Developers who use AI for code generation, debugging, and documentation
  • Writers and content creators who use AI for drafts, editing, and ideation
  • Students and researchers who use AI to understand complex topics
  • Business professionals who use AI for emails, reports, and analysis
  • Beginners who are just starting out with AI tools and want to learn best practices

Privacy First

Every operation in PromptUse — formatting, analyzing, scoring — runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. No prompts are sent to any server. We do not collect, store, or analyze any text you enter into the tool.

We believe privacy should be the default, not an option. You should be able to iterate on sensitive prompts — for business strategy, personal projects, or code — without worrying about data collection.

The Team

PromptUse is an independent project maintained by a small team passionate about making AI more accessible and effective for everyday users. We are not affiliated with any AI company (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.).

We publish prompt engineering guides based on publicly available research, community knowledge, and our own experimentation with modern AI models.
